Scouts

Scouts are the eldest section of Scouting here at the Sketty Scout Group. This section is for young people from the ages of 10½ to 14. The Scout section is called a Troop, with each Troop made up of several Patrols

Sketty Scout Group runs two Scout Troops which meet on a Wednesday and Friday from 7.30pm till 9:30pm.

Being a Scout is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are. You will get the opportunity to try new things and make new friends. You will have adventures both at home and abroad.

We help our Scouts develop #SkillsForLife. We build confidence, independence and encourage them to explore their beliefs and attitudes.

There is a monthly subs fee for attending section nights. This covers costs like rent, activities, insurance and more.

This parents guide to Scouts contains lots more information about what we do. If you still have questions contact us and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Scouts wear a uniform consisting of a teal green shirt and a Sketty Scout Group Scarf.

At the age of 14 Scouts are invited to move into the District Explorer unit and can also take up a role as a Young Leader in one of our younger sections.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
