Information for Parents

We understand there are still unknowns as the pandemic advice changes and evolves. We want to provide you with all the information we have about how Sketty Scout Group are providing scouting activities. Our Group has been able to provide a blended programme of online scouting activities and face-to-face activities, when the guidance allowed since April 2020.

Scouts have been able to continue to meet in a Covid-safe way independent of social gathering restrictions due to the UK Government confirming that the youth sector was an essential service.
More information is available from ScoutsCymru by visiting https://scoutscymru.org.uk/members/coronavirus-support.

As the pandemic evolved the UK Government introduced a Tier structure to explain the Coronavirus rules across the UK. The Scouting Association use ‘Readiness levels’. The Readiness Levels are Red, Amber, Yellow and Green. The specific rules within each Level will vary depending on location e.g. Wales, England, and Isle of Man etc. Please use the link to check the current readiness level in Wales https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/getting-back-together-safely/the-readiness-levels-across-uk-scouts/

The Scouting Framework set out an approval or permissions process for restarting face-to-face activities. All Section Leaders and the Executive Committee of Sketty Scout Group worked together to produce our Covid restart risk assessments. These Covid-safe ways of working cover scouting activities in and around our Hall, as well as locations away from the Hall. It is important that volunteers, parents and young people all clearly understand what adjustments need to be made to ensure everyone’s safety.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
